Flexible work options have emerged strongly as a necessity of Covid – 19
This has coincided with a definite move by employees to seek better Work|Life balance with a strong preference for working from both the office and home.
Employers are recognising that this is becoming an important retention strategy and a tool of attraction for new employees.
Seek.co.nz have recently reported that when asked about Hybrid working, 2 in 5 employees claim that without Hybrid working they will leave their current employer.
The NZ Staff Turnover Survey reports that 79% of all participants offered some form of flexible work option.
The most common Flexible work options offered by employers are
- Working from home or from a collaborative working space or satellite office.
- Changes to hours including variable starting and finishing times, travelling off peak, or working a compressed or non-standard week.
- Changes to employment including job sharing and shift-swapping, flexible leave including time off in lieu and annual leave purchase schemes or a 4-day working week.
